Quit being such a trolls about the rankings. If it makes you feel better DP (the only 20-3 team in the state) is ranked higher on the coaches polls. If you want DP to be ranked higher than oviedo, sunset, douglas or park vista. Here are two things you can do:
#1. Fill in the last game that you have not reported against apopka. If you won, which I am sure you did, your points will go up.
#2. Play a 25 game schedule so that you can accumulate more points. This is the reason that some Miami teams do not rank as high because they only play 20 games and only a few play GMACs. None of those things are a reflection on how good they really are. It is a formula, it has worked well now for while. Relax.
Better yet, don't worry about rankings and worry more about how to defeat Winter Park after you knock off those weak district opponents. WP is ranked 24th in the computerized poll, but they are not ranked in the coaches poll. My opinion is they can beat DP or anyone else if they are on. Good luck to all

Haven't seen them play but from the talk early on it seemed like all the talk was about gilliam? the outside I think? and that he was the force to be reckoned with, maybe teams started game planning for him and made the other kids beat them. And I think everyone knew ridge was going to be a top 5 team in the state lol, well atleast everyone from down south.

Well, I have not analyzed the numbers. But I believe them to be correct.
DP has not had a significant win since the beginning of season. Hence a lot of their wins do not generate big ELO points.
Oviedo has played tough competition and won. So they have been earning BIG ELO points.
But after all is said and done DP is only 24 ELO points behind Oviedo. If the Apopka score was entered I do belive DP would jump ahead of Oviedo. So the ranking system comes through one more time.

What doesn't make sense to me is how sunset was ranked around 14, beat a bad hml team, lossed to Columbus n jumped to number 9. Palmetto beat SW n varela, both good teams, lossed to Columbus n dropped from number 9 to number 13. I just don't get how that works out, regardless of sets won/ lossed

Can't remember my results accurately but Palmetto lost 2-0 to Columbus, so they lost about 32 points in that loss. If you add those 32 points to Palmetto you may get the result you are looking four.
DP won a match last night. They will move back into the TOP 10 once the results are factored in.
Oviedo did beat Palmetto earlier in the season. So there is support to rank Oviedo higher than Palmetto.
IMHO, the only interesting situation in the ELO poll currently is South Broward ranked 1st. That is the puzzlement for me. But they have had a good season and 19-1 is nothing to laugh at.
So maybe the ELO poll has found a sleeping giant. Well time will tell, districts next week. States the week after that.
Everything gets settled next week.
IMHO, just recording scores I think the top teams this year are
McCarthy, Seminole Ridge, Bishop Moore, Columbus in that order.
You next group of teams are South Broward, Spanish River, Southwest, Dr. Phillips, Palmetto,
The next grouping is Berkley Prep, Park Vista, Sunset, Winter Park, Lark Mary
Then another grouping of teams: Oviedo, Cypress Creek, Varela Hialieah Miami Lakes, this group gets bigger....

In the agree to disagree naw....me thinks the accuracy is quite good....especially is you pay more attention to the number on the right as opposed to the number on the left.
always compare the ELO power rating between teams. if it is 16 points or less then they are pretty much even. If is 48 point or more then there is some separation between the seasons they are having.
Examples: McCarthy wins in 5 over Columbus....ELO difference 24 points....
Where ELO has not "WELL" this year is that many of the top teams have decided to play the majority of their games in tournaments instead of regular season matches.
McCarthy, Berkley Prep, Bishop Moore, Columbus, Lake Mary....are examples ...so a team like South Broward which is having an excellent season is ranked number 1 but probably should be lower in the top 10.
But as always the main purpose of the poll is to bring some BUZZ to the sport....and for that reason alone...the poll works....and it works very well....

I agree some teams played more tournaments, but there is a problem with the current system. As we all know Broward schools have a 20 game limitation while teams from Central Florida, palm beach, Miami and non-public schools (AMHS, etc) have a 25 game limitation. Everyone is not on the same playing field. Even though it forces these schools to eliminate some tournaments (3 games) and play normal games (5 games) it still has a negative impact on ELO rankings. Even though teams like S. Broward and Douglas are ranked within top 12, teams like mine are ranked pretty low. This issue should somehow be considered. Also I also believe there should be a calculation factor for how high your competitor is ranked. For example, beating Columbus (sorry Columbus this is an example) in 5 should give u a lot more points then beating Pines Charter (sorry guys) in 3. These are my thoughts.

Future....the ELO poll does take into account the relative strength of the teams playing. This is a key component of the mathematics....now not playing the same number of games....nothing I can do about that....the Formula rewards teams for playing and winning. the more you play the more you win the higher your ranking....
The coaches poll and fan poll were added so that subjective opinions could be factored into the rankings. Possible a merging of these polls to come up with a true answer might work but is not done now. Not enough coaches voting and fans being fans and voting up their team
