Okay Sports Fans,
Discussion is under way to host an all star game at the end of the season.
Only graduating seniors would be eligible for the event.
How should the team be selected?
Voting by the fans similar to what Major League Baseball does?
Coaches panel? Or some other independent panel?
The game would be for Central Florida so would you want to see a Seminole vs Orange county game? or teams selected from the 4 districts that comprise the central area?
How would you select the coaches for the event?
Okay put your thoughts together and lets see what we can do?
Dave

as an Orlando Gold coach, i can say that i would like to see a north-south competition as well - but that it should be open to all the players to vote. there are a bunch of great senior players out there who have never played Gold and who should get a shot. i think a lot of the real All-stars this year aren't even seniors, so it wouldn't be the best of the best, just the best of the senior class.
either way - count me in. not to coach, cause there are definitely better coaches out there, but i'd love to help.

i agree to north vs. south but i think that the voting should be mostly based on coaches decisions

i really like the north-south idea. i think the coaches should get half the vote and the players the other half. but, the players should all be in agreement. it could be run by each team by electing a representative to vote or deciding as a team who will receive their votes. and as a side note, not all the best players are seniors.

I played in the all star game last year and i thought it was a joke.
They call it an all star game so thats what it should be. What it is now, is a senior game ad int fun at all. In my opinin I think the all star game should consist of the 1st team all county players from central florida, broward county, and dade county, and they shuld all get together and play a round robbin to see whch conty is the best. Therefore taking the ALL STARS not the just the seniors.
It would be great competition and alot of fun. I hated the game lat year, haf the kids couldnt play and i was scared of getting hurt. Just wasnt fun.

those are all good ideas. but why i think they do seniors only is cuz its their last game so they want them to do something before they leave. but im not sure

It has to do with eligibility. Only Seniors that have completed all eligibility are able to play in Allstar games... It's and FHSAA deal.

Okay we have some good ideas going here.
Unfortunately, FHSAA rules require that only senior s may play.
Should any player with eligibility left for high school ( juniors, sophs, freshmen) play in an all star game based on their high school performance they would forfeit their next season.
True there are many deserving under classmen but FHSAA rules prohibit it.
Seniors only.

which is understandable, but it just isnt fun. it is basically a serving battle. I looked forward to the game for my 3 years then didnt enjoy it at all.
What about you dave? do u think u would be able to put together a game between countys? is that possible?

I think you guys need to open this forum up!!! We're tired of hearing about ORlando! You keep passing over PBC which has two of the best teams in the state. Oh yeah and the past state champion! (Check your own rankings!) Jupiter and Spanish River have some of the best players (if not the most dominant single all around player in JM Plummer) in the state. PBC will bring it to Orlando at the BM tournment. Look out for the quiet ones, we're coming...

It would be great if all the Palm B tallent had accounts on this board. Unfortunately Only 2-3 teams in PB care about boys volleyball. Orlando has probably 15-20 teams that have solid boys teams. Orlando Gold 17-1 team has representation from 11 different schools!!! Hopefully the Jupiter club grows and you all can get some of the other schools. It will be interesting to see where you all end up at the Sting.
