Published on web today and in the paper tomorrow (Orlando Sentinel)
Bishop Moore's Christian Franceschi chosen area's top volleyball player Christian Franceschi led Bishop Moore to at least the state semifinals for the third year in a row.
Christian Franceschi isn't afraid to admit he is obsessed with volleyball.
"People say I'm going to get burned out, but I can't live without volleyball for more than like two days," Franceschi said. "I play basically every single day."
Franceschi said it has been that way since he started playing the game competitively five years ago at the age of 13.
That level of drive and determination has helped Franceschi become one of the nation's best players, and he is this season's All-Central Florida Player of the Year.

Franceschi, a 6-foot-3 junior with a thin frame and a 37-inch vertical jump, pounded 487 kills this season for Bishop Moore. He led the Hornets to at least the state semifinals for the third consecutive season.
"This year, he shouldered 95 percent of the offense and still got us back to the final four," Bishop Moore coach Tom Snodgrass said. "Every team we played focused on stopping him, but he still produced and had a great season."
Francechi's signature performance came in Bishop Moore's region match against Oviedo. He had 33 kills, including eight in the decisive fifth game, as he carried the Hornets to victory.
"All of the sudden, that game five he was electric," Oviedo coach Rafael Valle said. "We had our two best blockers on him, but it didn't matter. He was hitting lights-out."
Said Franceschi: "When I feel like I can put the ball down in crucial points like that, I go up to Jordan [Kiniry, Bishop Moore setter] and I'm like, 'Jordan, set me the ball; I'm going to put the ball down,'" Franceschi said.
Franceschi's summer travel plans include a trip to Tucson, Ariz., for the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. He was one of 31 players selected for an elite USAV program and will compete against top players from around the nation, as well as other countries.
He has dreams of playing in the Olympics, but for now he's focused on getting a Division 1 scholarship. He said his performance in top-level club tournaments this summer will be critical.
"This is the time when college coaches will be watching me, so if I want to get recruited, I need to play my best," he said.
