The Rider Sandals Big Shot Volleyball Series, presented by Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, will return to Siesta Key on October 15-16. Teams from throughout the country will compete for $2,500 cash prizes. Tournament play will start at 9 am with finals scheduled for 5 pm each day. Admission is free for all spectators.
The Sarasota County Visitors and Convention Bureau is sponsoring the Siesta Key tournament in conjunction with Gold Coast Eagle Distributor’s, Corona Light and the Siesta key Holiday inn Express. Over 250 teams from 20 states and Canada are expected.
The Big Shot Volleyball Series held 30 events leading to the Aug. 28-29 $8,000 Big Shot Championships at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 Volley America Nationals Oct. 22-23 in Clearwater Beach. The Siesta Key event will be the last qualification event before the Nationals
Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Rider Sandals Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, admission to the Saturday evening player’s party at The Boatyard Grill and a chance to win merchandise prizes from tournament sponsors 4C Totally light 2Go, Corona Light, Spalding, Rider Sandals, Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, Rox Volleyball, Bally’s Casino, Zem Booties, 1st Place Volleyball, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sweet Tomatoes, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, Sportime, Horry County, Spike Key, Sarasota County Parks Dept., and Siesta Key Holiday Inn Express. The public can met the players Saturday evening at the official Corona Light Player’s Party Boatyard Grill.
