Spalding's KOB All-Weather Volleyball will be hitting the sand April 20-21
The ZEMgear Open of the Big Shot Volleyball Series, presented by 4C Totally Light 2Go Energy Drinks, will be held on the beautiful beaches of Hollywood, FL April 20-21. Teams from throughout the East Coast will compete in the ZEMgear Open as they warm up for the 2013 Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Over $5,000 in cash prizes will be awarded at the Hollywood event.
The Big Shot Volleyball Series holds 35 events leading to the August $8,000 Big Shot Championships in Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 Spalding Volley America National Championships October in Clearwater Beach.
The top male player scheduled to compete is Steve Grotowski who represented Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics in London. Steve, a resident of Boynton Beach, has dual American and British citizenship which allowed him to compete for either of those countries.
Additional top male players expected to compete for the men’s purse include Miami’s Adrian Carambula who teamed with Grotowski to finish 2nd in the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Belmar Open in 2012.
Female players competing for the women’s purse include the top seeded Capri Grotowski and Karolina Sowala, and Katharina Schillerwein/ Stefanie Huettermann from Germany who are warming up for the European Pro Tour.
Hollywood is one of the best sites on the East Coast to watch the Big Shot Series as spectators can easily walk along the Broadwalk from match to match or sit down on the low wall. There are many eating and drinking facilities along the way serving Corona Light for in between game breaks. Fans are invited to join the payers Saturday evening for the after play part which will be held on one of the Broadwalk restaurants at 8 pm.
In addition to the Pro Division separate divisions will also be held for intermediate and novice level players.
