Most college Club teams start practicing / training as soon as the Fall Semester starts. Here are some suggestions for people starting college in the fall semester and would like to play club volleyball: (1)Try to contact the individual club team prior to the beginning of the fall semester. Most teams have Facebook pages. This way you can start ASAP. This is very important since the college level is so more intense than high school and the longer you train the better. (2) Most colleges have a convention/ meeting for new students with all clubs present. Look for the team. (3) Ask questions on this website. I know a lot of players from UCF, UF, FSU, FIU, Miami, FGCU, etc. monitors this website. This would be a great forum to ask questions (ie: Players on that team, positions available, etc.)

What positions are available on the UF and UCF teams? Most teams go with the philosophy that the "best player plays". Therefore, if a freshman libero joins a club team for UCF, UF, FSU, etc. and that freshman player is better then someone who started last year, that freshman player will start. I know UCF and UF graduated starting OH. Are there OH going to these schools? As someone indicated earlier, club volleyball at the college level is very intense. In fact, there are club teams that can easily beat DII or DIII schools.

The only problem about club team is that the own players make all the rules, schedules and rosters. Im sure they wont put a freshman to play over a decent senior or junior.

I can see what "College" is saying. If there is a position on a club college team and a freshman is better than a sophomore, the freshman will probably play. However, "Disagree" is right too. Since most college club teams are run by players there could be "politics" involved regarding Juniors & Seniors. I do think it is important for teams like FSU, Miami & FIU to join some sort of organized League like UCF and UF did. There are organized tournaments leading to Nationals. However, that requires a lot of commitment and organization by the players, which includes fund raising. I also wish colleges in Florida will give more funds to the Men's Volleyball Clubs so they can hire coaches. There were a lot of teams at Nationals with coaches.
I also agree with "College" that new players should get involved with the team asap.

Sean Mullen is going to Wentworth? A D3? Yep I believe he is D3? Mullen is one of the best players in Fl. Is this showing how weak Fl volleyball is nationally?

Division 3 has many schools who compete and win vs division 1 schools. Height and approach touch are at the top of what D1 recruiters are after. His height is the problem (For an OH hitter) His talent is not. Sean is a great outside hitter who will get to continue to play his position at the next level and do well at it.

D3? Mullen is one of the best players in Fl. Is this showing how weak Fl volleyball is nationally? Sean Mullen is not just going for volleyball. He is thinking about after collage. He could easily go to a higher level team but the academics to the other potential other schools is not what he wants. And FL is not weak we have plenty of talent coming out every year.
