Okay Vball Fans,
The rankings are starting to settle out a bit.
Remember the RATING number (number closer to the center of the page: is a bit more informative than the RANKING #.
Lyman seems to be a solid #1. Southwest Miami #2.
Several teams are neck & neck for the 3rd slot.
Olympia, Jupiter, Spanish River & Cardinal Gibbons. 3 of which are undefeated.
The winner of the Spring Sting & the Jungle Queen tourneys have solid opportunities of vaulting into the #1 slot.
Miami Killian seems to be a bit under ranked due to playing lower rated competition and have not gotten into the meat of their schedule yet.
Interesting only 5 teams currently are undefeated. 3 of these teams will be at Spring Sting (Jupiter, Cardinal Gibbons, Pace)
Olympia is at Jungle Queen. And I think Killian is at the Palm Beach Classic.
So as it stands at best only 2 teams can enter the state play offs undefeated.
So in conclusion with about half the season completed, top spot n the rankings and in the play offs seems wide open this year.

Adding fuel to the fire about who is best South Florida Volleyball or Central Florida Volleyball.
6 of the 8 bracket slots are ear marked for South Florida teams. 2 for Central Florida teams.
This will be the first year the brackets facilitate an all Central Florida finals.
South Florida (Palm Beach, Broward & Dade counties) teams have won 5 championships
Central Florida (Orange & Seminole counties) have won 1 championship.
Save for the year Cardinal Gibbons won its title, the Finals has always been South Florida vs Central Florida in the Finals.
The CGHS year, CGHS had to best 2 Central Florida teams in 5 to make the Finals. The finals went 3 and out.
Arguably the best season was CGHS undefeated season. The best run was SRHS recent back to back titles.
The Big Dance doesn't seem to happen without Southwest Miami, Cardinal Gibbons, Spanish River, each of which have been to 3 or more state play offs.
Okay sports fans, that is all I can find that seems to be statistically significant about the state play offs.

Dave thanks for all your time and efforts doing the rankings, central or south, we all appreciate it. How do you go about checking the validity of the records and or scores?
For example Douglas is up there in the top 10, but they have a mistake in their record because they played bronze in SW Miami tournament due to 2 losses in pool play, and the flipside is Belen who should be higher in the rankings because they beat Douglas.
So aren't the rankings pretty much a prone to error since there is margin for error in them based on miskeyed information?
I agree that the records and the rankings don't tell the real story- it is what happens on the court.
Again, way to go Dave. Great job.

Hey Curious George,
Thanks for the update on the Douglas matches.
I was unable to find complete results on the Southwest tourney.
I was able to figure out (I thought) results of Gold & Silver but not the other divisions.
So to answer your question. Yes if the data that goes in is garbage the rankings that come out are garbage.
As we say in the software industry garbage in garbage out.
Will correct the Douglas results.
The posting of individual schedules & results was originally an after thought so that the volleyball community could correct any errors such as you mentioned.
But the individual schedules & results seems to be the main attraction for this forum. It allows teams to analyze their opponetnts etc.
Thanks again will correct the Douglas Belen results.

as a parent i want to thank you for all the hard work, great site, river played 3 schools last night in succession and won all 3 in 3 but they show an 11-1 record which should be 13-1.

Hey RiverDad
Make sure I have all the scores listed for your team. Also all of the matches.
If I remember correctly, I only saw two scores in the Sun Sentinel for Spanish River.
If a game is missing email it to me or post on the forum.

hey dave i have a question that i think you can answer for me...
since they made it possible for two central florida teams to play in the finals what districts would face each other in the finals...?
would it be possible for lyman and olympia to play in the finals...?
thanks for the answer...

Go to the FHSAA web site The sport manual has the brackets for the state play offs www.fhsaa.org/vbb/manual/Click on the manual on page 30 of the pdf has the complete brackets. tc wolf and a bunch of the other players already have their road to the state finals all mapped out as well as all the permutations and combinations that are possible.
