This is my top ten in order, Lake Mary and Lyman are tied at one 1. Lyman 1. Lake Mary 3. Bishop Moore 4. Cardinal Gibbons 5. Sunset 6. Timber Creek 7. Apopka 8. Winter Park 9. Southwest 10. Berkeley Prep I think most will agree with this. Apopka moved up significantly because they beat Sunset in two and then lost close to Lake Mary at the Palm Beach Classic. Also they took Lyman to five in a preseason match and beat Berkeley. Sunset moved down to me because they looked really weak at the tournament, although there is a possibility that they were missing players. I'd have Wekiva, Apopka, and Berkley all next to each other, no idea the order but I'd put Wekiva above Apopka because they have beat them several times. Are there no good teams out of Palm Beach? I think several more teams should be included from Broward, Palm Beach, or Dade County but no idea who.

I would say Wekiva has played better than many expected this season, but not so well that they deserve to be in the top 10. Their only impressive wins to me are against Apopka, who has been extremely inconsistent, doing things like taking Lyman to 5 in preseason, taking Lake Mary to 3 (in best out of 3), and beating sunset, but also things like losing to Wekiva, Olympia, and Winter Park in the DP tournament. This makes it hard to rank them, however after this loss I would say they should probably drop down to 10th, possibly even Palmetto or Park Vista moving into their spot.

Also I haven't heard about or seen any other teams from down south that deserve to be on the list. Personally I think this just reflects the fact that this year the north is stronger than the south.

Phenomenal match between Lake Mary and Lyman tonight. Huge crowd for the rivalry that had the State's two undefeated teams face off for the Seminole Athletic Conference Championship. Lyman jumped out strong in first set and took control in the middle of the set with a 6 - 7 point lead and played side out ball at the end to take the first set 25-18.
Second set was the best set with both teams serving well, playing strong defense and putting balls away when they had an opportunity. Lyman fought off a couple of set points and pulled it out 30-28. Lil Bro Stash Kiersnowski had set winning block vs. Cas!!
Third set Lake Mary used their entire offense and played better defense. Serving was better as well to take it 25-21.
Higher intensity as the match continued. Similar situation in the 4th set for Lake Mary along with a couple of errors from Lyman allowing Lake Mary to take the 4th set 25-23.
5th set had many fantastic volleys back and forth. The crowd really enjoyed the point with LM down 5-6, the teams had tremendous defense on both sides of the net. Cas finished with an out of system kill to the deep 1 position. Fans cheers both teams for great effort. Then Lyman jumped out to a 10-7 led only to have LM fight back to tie it at 10. In the end Lyman won with a high flying 3-1 ball to Kyle on serve receive to win the match.
Overall very well matched teams. Lyman's home crowd certainly helped them win first couple of sets with chants every 3-4 points. LM settled in, but the difference in the critical 2nd and 5th sets was Lyman played better defense and LM had a few more errors.
I would not be surprised if these teams met again the state finals if they continue to play this well.
Congrats to all who participated as this was an extremely well played match with great sportsmanship!!

Lyman finished its regular season against Winter Springs. Took them 3-0. So the regular season ends at 24-0. Now on to Districts and State for the battle of the North against the South. We all know how history plays that one.

Statistically speaking....
The North has 28% of the teams in Florida and the South has 72%. If the South truly did have better volleyball players/programs, in the past 10 championship, the South would have won more than 7. Alas, they have only won 6.
Further supporting this theory is that the South sends 6 Regions to States and the North can only send 2. Using this relative relationship, the South has three times as many opportunities to win the State Championship. 6-4 ain't good enough.
Thus.... my conclusion that the South ain't got nothing on the North!!!
Finish strong boys and let everyone know how great boys volleyball is!

Lets talk recruiting. Archbishop recruited for two years just couldn't win. Cardinal Gibbons has a player now that is sitting out for recruiting reasons. Lets see Bishop Moore has had the state rule on every kid that was a possible issue and won every ruling. Maybe it's just that every kid at Bishop Moore plays club. Guess what at the end of the day Bishop Moore has 2 titles in 3 years and you probably never won one. Oh and their girls team won states this year and a National Title. They must recruit too
