im a douglas fan and we got knocked out way early but i watched that whole game and that was the best high school volleyball game i have ever seen. both teams left it all on the court. but one thing that was totally wrong was the reffing, there were some really bad calls and non-calls for both teams. but to make a call that is so unbelievably bad during the 5th game, its just unacceptable. every single person who went to that game knows which side of the court that ball fell on when olympia's middle hit it into the block and it rolled down the southwest guys body. and also i think it was the 4th game where olympias setter was back row and he went up for a block and they gave olympia the point but ended up as a re-do, its just rediculous. a state final game needs college refs or something cause egh

oh it was ridiculous. i think if those teams played 100 times, it would be split right down the middle. You couldnt've asked for a better matched championship than that, maybe better refs but besides that, great game SW and OT. (oh yeah sorry it cost so much to park, then pay to get in for quart., then semis, then finals, and food, and gas, and hotels if you were far. the state made us charge so much. wasnt us)

ha your funny. whole team? whatever man. gage was a beast, no doubt about that, and replacing him will be d**n near impossible...but hey, someones gotta try right? lol and you need 6 to play, so he couldn't be our whole team. as far as the trah talk, your opinion homie. mine happens to be different. and your just gonna have to deal with it. and good luck at whatever school you are at

Congrats to southwest! Not as good as the 2003 team though. This was a down year for boys volleyball overall. As for Olympia you were poor sports all through tournament and I hope you learned from it. Bishop moore kids are still taking heat from the way they handled things during past years. They seem to have cleaned up there image alot. Central florida is not there yet but improving each year. Lyman won but that was a very down year the best team in my opinion was timber creeks 2005 team or the 2003 cypress team but just and opinion. Dr Phillips over achieved due to great coaching and leadership but also came up short in 2007. And I dont want to leave out Lake Howell who got on a roll at the right time. Keep working on those club teams and it needs to start early not 16 Im talking 14/15 needs to improve. Good Luck to all in 2009 What are you talking about when you say the way Bishop Moore handled things in the past? And why does South Florida think they have been better than CFL every year? The all around talent in CFL has been just as good in previous years, and better in 05 and 06. And notice how I said "all around" not one team. Congrats to Southwest, didn't even get to see them play this year but they are the best.

First of all I would like to say congratulations to SW. I have to say that I strongly disagree with whoever said that OH talks junk. We (Bishop Moore) played them twice this year and lost both times. They were not rude they were excited about beating Bishop Moore. They had a phenomenal season and deserve the greatest praise for it. Great job OH you and LM made central Florida proud and it just goes to show what Orlando Gold or Longwood club can do for a high school team. I was very sad to hear that Travis could not play club this summer due to financial issues because he is going to alot of camps this summer.

I have to agree that cf has had an all around good base when it comes to teams, it just sucks that we're only alloted 2 spots in the state tournament when south florida gets 6 spots. This has been the first year (i think) that cf teams havent been in the same bracket before the finals. last year dp and lm would have faced in the semis, i think that any solid cf team could beat a south team, because we have just as much heart and skill as they do. any team can be beaten on any day.

Wow. Bishop Moore had a bad image??
And anyways, TC's 2005 team split with BM and they both lost to CG in 5, TC in the State Quarterfinals and BM in the State Semis. So to say they were the best and not mention BM's team that year doesn't make sense.
And the year Lyman won was far from a down year. Do people still want to say Lyman's championship wasn't deserved? They had to beat a very good WS and a very good Lake Mary with Tim freakin Spencer just to get out of districts, then had to beat Edgewater who everyone thought wa And hot stuff in regionals. They also beat Northeast, who had beat TC in 3. And lets not forget TC's star studded lineup that year With Arturo, Derek, Ralph and more. Not to mention Cypress had Ala and Carlos and Nicky. So I really don't think that was a down year. Sorry.

umm observer. if you talk to the sons coach he always says how down south is tryin to catch up with central fl. so dont say we need improving. we dont ever win states but we consistantly have good teams for the amount of teams we have. and our club doesnt start at 16. we have a 14s team

the last part of your comment pushed the limit. you guys and killian had no chance at all of winning it. palmmetto blew. i saw them at spring sting. just a bunch of spanish guys, no one was good. you guys lost to bm which didnt make it out of a central fl district. you guys even lost to f**kn ransom everglades. im sure they should of won it too

It was a good game, the refs did blow a lot of calls in that game. 5 setters means noone dominated and you definetly cant say SouthFLA dominated. SWM did it all from the middle and olympia just couldnt adapt to that. And to whoever was talking trash about travis and arthur... you must not have a love for volleyball because those are just two extreme emotional compeitors and thats what this sport needs more of.

olympia played hard out there today in the championship match and that was the only reason why they went to 5 with sw. sw was up and dominated the first set untill they slacked off in the end, and the fourth set was a huge come back by olympia from being down around 8. sw was definately the better team! it would not be split down the middle if they played 100 times! sw would win at least 3/4 of the time! olympia was good, and made it a fun game to watch, but didnt have what southwest has.
i was really dissapointed to see how unimpressive olympia was. by the way you central florida teams talk, it sounded like lyman and olympia were going to be unstopable and nobody would be at their level. columbus lost to them in the 5th set 16-14 on a horrible call!
to defend the 305 (miami) teams, palmetto was a very good team and beat southwest for gmacs two weeks ago. spanish guys on palmetto? what are you talking about? maybe they didnt have the greatest showing against bm but you can ask anyone they played, they are a d**n good team and sucked that you didnt get to see them with their whole team (missing guys at the spring sting) and how much better they got at the end of the season. as for the other top teams in dade county: sunset went through alot of changes this year and finally got things together at the end of the season by making it to gmac finals and by taking southwest to 5 in district finals. ransom had alot of losses this year but didnt have their best hitter at alot of the tourneys (3) they went to this year, they took sunset to 5 in district semi finals. killian was downplayed all year and only got to go to one tourney, there they took out st thomas and ended up loosing to river in the finals. killian split with palmetto in the regular season but beat palmetto in district finals, then lost to southwest in 4 at regionals. columbus won the sw invitational beating sw and river, ended up loosing to olympia in 5 at states....
central florida, stop complaining that you only get two spots at states! dade county only sends two as well! lake mary only got to the final four cause they got to play cooper city first round, they they got handled in 3! olympia was good, but i know killian, palmetto, sunset, ransom, columbus all would have beat that lake mary team.
sad to hear about the bm setter, i thought they had a good shot this year! but my heart really goes out to nick, his family, and cardinal gibbons! they played their hearts out against spanish river but it wasnt the same team without him! that team would have won states, sorry, but its true! southwest played great, but something does need to be said about gibbons. anyone know how nick is doing?
