Any hope to UM getting a volleyball team? What a shame they don't have a team. You would think such a big school would get a Mens Volleyball program.

Is UF getting a volleyball program for men in the future? I heard they have a "club", but do they have an official team? I also heard that UCF might get a team. Is that true?

Title IX screws men's volleyball and other men's collegiate varsity sports except football, basketball, and baseball for the most part.... If you don't know what Title IX is, it requires that you have the same amount of money going towards girls playing varsity sports as you do guys. I can't see any of the big Florida schools getting Men's volleyball teams before Men's lacrosse teams so if it ever happens, it won't for a long time.

Howdy Guys,
I have not heard of any Florida school adding volleyball as a varsity sport. The only school I am aware is Warner Southern in Lake Wales.
He recruits many players from Florida HS. Other schools that recruit Florida players heavily are Lees McRae and Mt. Olive in North Carolina.
Another Florida connection is Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia. Coach Steve Benson spent many years here in Florida before going there.
Other playing opportunities are the NIRSA Club circuit. UCF, FSU, UF, Miami, and many other universities have very competitive and fun club teams. It is definitely a do it yourself type endeavour but there are a LOT of folks playing club volleyball.

I am a junior and I have been playing varsity since my freshman year. I love volleyball. My grades are really good also and I know my parents wants me to go to a top-rated school (academics). What schools out there that will give me both? I need to start applying. Thanks everyone for your help

EMU and Lees-McRae are expensive private schools. Do well in school.

like nick said, very hard to do and won't happen soon... don't see UF getting a divisional team anytime in the near future, but club is still extremely competitive, don't get the wrong idea.
