Looking at their schedule, it looks like they started their season about 2 weeks behind the Florida teams.
It seems they tend to play more matches than Florida teams in a season. They have had 7 consecutive seasons of 30+ wins.
The have one tourney under their belt and a single match.
They had an average finish at the first tourney they played this year.
In 2007 (last year) they were 37-1. Looks like they lost in the state play offs. Quarter final round. Tops in the Chicago catholic league.
4 players are returning from last year. All starters are 6'1" or taller.
In some poll Brother Rice was the preseason #20 team in the country.
Looks like their best player Kevin Padden is back. He was selected for the USAV A-2 team. Considering Stanford & Penn State for volleyball scholarship.

They also have an outside who received a scholarship to Loyola and is deciding between there and Notre Dame. Chicago is a good area for volleyball. The Catholic School circuit is always competitive up there.

I don't remember where the poll was. I was surfing from the Brother Rice home page and saw it mentioned.
What the Florida Volleyball.com poll is no longer good enough?
jk of course.
Think it may have been studentsportsvolleyball.com
Not sure though.

I did see a site that had rankings from volleyballmag but most of them were Cali teams and some Midwest teams.

Nothing. They would have been murdered by many Cali teams with ease.

i think in the last few years florida has made good progress in boys volleyball but we still have a long way to go, we all know that brother rice has very good team, but they are not going to win the s.s.t.

Not sure. In Florida, many of the good players are stars on their HS teams and equal to everyone else on their club teams. In Cali, its the other way around. There are so many club teams that the kids scatter. You could be the star setter on your Balboa Bay 17s team but you are the 3rd string setter at your High School because you are behind Riptide's 18s setter and Epic's 17s setter.
