in 04 lyman won, northeast couldnt pull it off. simple as that. big big upset. props to lyman for pulling it off.
but...
the other side of the bracket was stacked! sw, timber creek and northeast. the three strongest teams entering the state tourney all had to fight it out on the same side of the bracket. right after northeast pulled off a 5 set marathon match against sw in the semis, northeast had to jump right into the state finals match with no break. lyman played the game before and got to rest and watch northeast play and get a gameplan ready. kinda crazy.
after that year there has been a break between each round instead of 1 team having to play back to back matches.

Basically long story short they won because they had the easiest road to the State Finals, Hey they did win which is awesome, they did not recruit trust me you could tell they did not recruit..like stated the other side of the bracket was stacked with the arguably the three best teams in the state, Lyman had rest, game plan, in reality they were a bust though but they won at the end of the day they won it the fair way..should they have won no I don't think so...

Is it the 2004 or the 2003 Lyman team? Can't remember but they are the Rodney Dangerfields of State Champions. They get no respect.
Everyone agrees they won the match BUT....BUT ...BUT...yeah there are a whole lot of BUTs attached to their state championship.
Not saying they wouldn't have won the state championship, just saying everyone has a BUT attached to their title.
I know the kids and coaches from that team and believe they were a very deserving group. They got hot when they needed to get hot and beat more than just one team they were not suppose to beat.
So, you can either characterize Lyman's state championship as the miracle WIN or the WIN with the buts....your choice BUT they are still in the RECORD book
If I remember correctly in their semi they beat Spanish River which had a freshman named Kyle Friend and a few more names that became very popular a few years later. This match also went 5.
They did beat Northeast I believe in 5 for the Title.

Miracle win yes, Kyle was just a freshmen then, Hey they are in the record books we can't take that away, he they might as very well deserved to win it but do majority of us think they should have won no! but they did win it fair and square, you have good points Dave, but in my eyes that other side just got beat up, example its like a team in the playoffs, they have a harder road to get to the finals and they get there with no gas in there tank or like UCONN which pulled off the impossible..awesome they won they have something many don't and they got it the fair way something AMHS won't be able to say..now im not hating on them im just saying I don't think they should have won but they proved people wrong..and yes I agree volleyball when teams get hot they get hot, its about winning the games that matte when it matters..

I am a player from CP , and whoever posted that "CP will win in thre easily" Is a dumbass, we chocked in all 3 sets when we had a lead towards the end of each set. I apolagize for fans, parents, ex-players, students , players from CP that ever post ridiculous things up that we have yet been able to back up. We have players, we just dont have a team. Big ups to palmetto. 25-23, 25-22 25-19 (CP was leading in the 3rd 16-11) <-- That explains it all to this point.

I heard AMHS won in 5. The last game was 15-13. Might not be a easy going for AMHS to win states ;D
