Not sure who you are Nick or what you bring to the table as far as coaching. Where do you coach? What was your record? No need to answer those questions if you are not a HS head coach.
What gives you any right to say anything about Lake Mary Volleyball. Don't try to say that your comment was positive about LM the subtle disdain for the Lake Mary was still present. If you look at the history of Lake Mary volleyball we certainly have much to be proud of. Oddly enough we "outplayed" everyone's expectations this year as we beat Winter Springs and Apopka. Winter Springs is always strong team under Coach Raphael and Apopka had well coached group of athletes that beat BM, who clearly has a good coaching staff. This is not a knock on either of those two programs but rather a statement of the achievements of LM this year.
My point Nick, is not to put down any other team. Lake Mary has done well repeatedly over the years, even if LM players are not happy with the coaching staff. It would be optimal to have college level players coach any sport. Volleyball is a developing high school sport in the men's side. Even in college the game is not as popular. We have 4 of the top 15 most attended colleges in the United States and not one team. Finding a college that has men's volleyball is difficult, after that you need to find education majors since most coaching jobs are teacher based and your numbers go down even further. A comparison to football breaks down when you consider that most older coaches did not even have volleyball offered in the high schools.
As the sport grows coaching will get better. Be thankful it is not lacrosse. ;D

even the players talk trash about the coaching staff. nick's right, the reason they have done so well is because of the talented athletes they have ended up with throughout the years. not because of the coaching. just sayin.

I'm 19, just graduated from BM last year, assistant coaching Gold.... so no, I'm not a head coach.
My post had nothing to do with the lack of success of Lake Mary. My post was comparing and contrasting a football coach and a volleyball coach. I'll rephrase so that you may understand it better: If you hired a basketball coach as your head football coach, your team would be done from the start because football requires much detail and knowledge. I'm not saying volleyball doesn't but its just not as reliable on the coach. The coach calls the plays. It is easier to explain how to get 2 guys to run a 31 than to explain to 11 how to run a "right jump 24 wham boot right" so that they can successfully execute it. Anyways, I used Lake Mary as an example because they have been a successful team over the years with basketball coaches. If anything, that is complimenting Lake Mary as a "team" because they have been able to put up so much success against teams with great coaching staffs such as BM. I actually find it confusing that you misunderstood my previous post. Sorry for any misunderstanding that took place. Relax and read carefully before calling somebody out.

True, maybe I need to relax but don't back down from your comment now and don't try to change it to an analysis on the impact of lack of experience in Vball coaching. TCwolf and Justsaying understood perfectly that your comments constituted a backhanded compliment. Not sure any player from BM last year that is not at D1 school lighting up college gyms has the earned the right to comment on the job of HS coaches. The sense of entitlement among players today is through the roof, that's why LM's own player trash talk the coaching staff. Free country I know, you can say what you want but since you want to call yourself a coach here is a free lesson: Don't call out your peers (other coaches) in a public forum. There is a reason why sometimes things are best said anonymously in forums. Some subscribe to the idea that you need to own up to every word said. The truth is you can keep your integrity, say the message that needs to be said and take yourself out of the equation.
Everyone understood the message you were communicating so don't try to back down from it now. You would not be upset about being called out yourself, if you had watched your words more carefully.
In the end it is just food for thought. Take it or leave it. I will not reply any further. I do whole heartedly and sincerely hope that you will become a wonderful coach and impact the lives of many other players.

You are correct. Everyone did understand my messag, except you who took it way further than intended. See tcwolf's and justsayin's posts. They understand the message. And no, I am not backing down from my comment because you have the absolute wrong idea. we beat Winter Springs and Apopka. Winter Springs is always strong team under Coach Raphael and Apopka had well coached group of athletes that beat BM, who clearly has a good coaching staff. By the way, this quote from your post is nothing but proof of my point in my first post.
