i don't necesarrily disagree with you but based on the information provided on the Son's web site there is nothing referenced about only paying part of the registration 1,000 fee. On obv's it clearly says 100 per month and then breaks down uniform cost etc. figure out the location, talk about the club, talk to players and the coaches and make your decision. Obviously, you didn't check carefully. The $1,000 is NOT a registration fee. It is the a training fee for 8 months, which is $125 per month for those who are unable to do the math. (Which can be lowered to $112.50 per month if you pay in advance.) If the extra $25 per month is not to your liking, don't pay it. It's still America and everyone has a choice. I'm not sure why the cost difference between OBV & the Sons is of any great importance to someone from Central Florida. Or are we a central florida club member simply trying to bad mouth another club? I've made this point before and I'll make it again. This site is filled with way too much disinformation for any of the postings to be trusted.

the sons website sez $350 registration fee in addition to the $1000 season cost and the tournament fees.
and central florida, not everyone down south hates you. thanks for asking obvious questions.

to check carefully, where does it say the 1000 is a training fee for 8 months? All I see is it says it is a "season fee" ( sorry I shouldn't have said registration ) so we still come to the question that started all this can you just play son's for summer and pay the 375 instead of 1000 ( 125 x 3 months ) plus tournment cost? also do you still have to pay the 350 if only paying summer?
okay i've had enough. answer if you want but i'm done. and as true said we in the central don't hate the south. most of us think the more clubs and the more competition the better for all of us.
Can we at least agree on that?
good luck in summer.

One thing that I recommend is...PLAY CLUB.....You can not improve your skills by just playing High School...Even if you are a very good player and play only HS ball, your skills will be so much better by playing club....How many of us has players on their teams that does not improve as fast as they should?...they are promising as a freshman and fizzle by sophomore or junior year...How many of you are "passed by" other players that you were better than at one time because these players played club?...A majority of Bishop Moore, River, Douglas, Archbishop, etc play for some club...You do not have to "sign on the dotted line" right away....try different clubs first...go to Gold and Longwood, Sons and OBV and practice....Then pick the one that you like the best taking into different criteria (travel, cost, coaches, practicing techniques, and of course the players that will be on your team)...BUT I AGREE...PLAY CLUB....

To cfballer:
The cost information page has been up on the Sons' website since September. That's the full club year cost, which is 8 months. While it doesn't say that, it also doesn't say that it is the summer cost either. I guess you assumed that and that's their bad for not updating their website to include summer only rates. Again, everyone is free to contact any of the clubs and ask questions so that they get accurate information. No one should be depending on these posts for their information when making a decision on a club. Any club. Regardless of when you begin training, the training portion is $125 per month. I know, because I'm writing the checks. Call the club to verify.
The "registration" fee covers 2 sets of uniforms, 2 practice jerseys, etc. and of course whatever other administrative expenses that they incur. If you intend on participating in travel, you'll need the uniforms and other team gear. So, yes you'd be asked to pay a registration fee too. Is a training only registration fee less? You'd have to contact the club. But, if they don't have to buy uniforms for you, you could assume that you wouldn't have to pay for uniforms.
I'll assume that most of us understand that no club is doing all this for free. Coaches are paid, facilities cost actual money to rent, uniform vendors like to be paid, etc. So add up what you think those costs are and again every boys' club is comparable cost wise. None of the boys' clubs have outrageous costs. They're also not going to be exactly the same as each club has its own administrative structure and facility obligations. But they are comparable. I know, because I've done that research, because I'm writing the checks. If you want outrageous, go look at the websites for some of the girls' clubs where they're paying multiple thousands of dollars a year, just to train.
The three most important points: 1) Playing club is important if you want to be a serious player. 2) The current cost structure for all of the boys' clubs is a good value, if you want to be a serious player. (Yes, we know the costs aren't exactly the same and we know that whatever club you currently play for is the best.) 3) Nothing is for free. Which means, if its free, you're getting nothing.

OBV is coming down into Miami? Is this just for boys? Pretty sad that a northern based club has to come down to straighten things out for Miami Boys volleyball. There's about 10 people out there that could start a succesful club out of Miami and instead a club from the North has to do it. Great.
