THE best setter to come out of Florida is Aleks Ondelj from Oak Ridge High School. The thing is, barely anyone has seen him play so he doesn't get the credit he is due. Google his name and see what college coaches were saying about him when he was playing at Rutgers. Impressive.

matias rubio and mike iandolo... many good battles between the two... mike had the softest hands ever and put the ball on the money... matias was flashy and was the best a faking out the blockers that i have ever seen...

That kid is probably horrible because i never heard of him, I think Abel was the best setter to ever come out of Florida. Hands of Gold. Just cuz youve never heard of someone doesnt mean that they suck... take the time and do some research and youll see that he was a f**kin stud!! abel the best setter? im going to assume that was sarcasm. he was good, maybe decent at best. he did his job but thats about it. Iandolo and matias are by far the best 2 setters to come out of florida in a long time. ( i wont say ever cuz i dont know about older people). Southwest has developed some d**n good setters recently in Noel Garcia, Rayko Garcia(05),Jason Fernandez(04).

Hello! I didnt know about this website...pretty cool.
I just want to clear something up. I suck at setting. I played JV at Sunset for 3 years in a row as the starter 3rd bench/water boy. My senior year i didn't play anywhere cuz i moved to a horrible place called "cape coral". And club, I played 3 years and I was the OFFICIAL manager. I was the guy collecting balls and making sure our equipment was safe...but i did get to wear that cool tag they would give you at nationals to hang around ur neck!!
:)
by the way to anyone that knows me for real...I will be moving back to Argentina on February 21st 2009. So next time you see me, say hi to me and take a picture with me because most likely its going to be the last time you will see me.

In my opinion, Aleks Ondelj was and is to this date the best player to be recruited to play college ball who has come from a FL high school. I know he spent very little time in FL because he was originally from Europe. As we all know, they take vball alot more seriously in Europe than we do in the US. So he had/has an edge on the other guys. In the vball world, there are two types of setters. There are pure setters and there are "ball chuckers." Aleks was defintely much more of a setter than Mike is during his college career. This is not to say that Mike can one day become a great setter. He definitely has the upper edge on the size side of things. If he travels to Europe to play, he will need to speed his game up and step into the pure setter role. I think he is definitely capable of doing so. But as I said before, Aleks could run a great offense and did some pretty good things with a very mediocre Rutgers team back in the day. I played him a few times and he always proved to be "tricky" opponent.
