Tom is not christians club coach. Last year his coach was ashley who as far as i know is not affiliated with a high school. before he transferred the only connection was that tom was at the same club. If you knew Christian M. you would know that there was no recruiting involved. its just a kid that loves the sport and doesnt want to have to travel 2 hours each way for practice. his parents refuse to have him in public school and the closest private school with volleyball is BM. If there were more then 2 major clubs in florida then we wouldnt have these problems, but since most of the kids at OG are 30 minutes away, if we turned in every kid with a connection to the club there would be no team. all the coaches are from 30 minute radiuses also, so almost every kid at gold has a hs coach at Gold. As of now, because of a man who will not be named there is 5 incoming freshmen to BM who have to make an appeal because of a letter saying that they were recruited from gold. its getting ridiculous. all the kids from lyman, play for russ at longwood before they go to lyman. the volleyball community is too small here to pay attention to all the connections Well first of all it doesn't matter that he didn't play directly under Tom, he was the director of the club and affiliated so there is a connection and by definition of the FHSAA it is recruiting. I understand him wanting to be closer but he should have to sit out a year like it says in the FHSAA rule book. Also Lyman is a public schools so only people within the Lyman school zone play for Lyman, people cannot just go there if they want to, like they can at BM, just because they play for longwood.

who cares about all this BM stuff southwest will come out in top, they are too strong this year.. reminds me of back when they won states. they may not have a christian franceschi but they have an overall team. all teams beware, and it starts with the win to columbus, march 6 at southwest!!!

I think if there was people who followed the rules it would be no big deal but sense the FHSAA doesn't even seem to want to follow its own rules it sets up, it gets everyone upset. It also helps that Tanya Jarvis is on the advisory committee for the FHSAA and is the girls vb coach for BM. Lots of teams can dominate with just 1 good hitter. Maybe not win states but can make it into the playoffs with ease.

Wow - too much conflict of interest. She belongs to the same committee who approved appeals for BM. That is mad, FHSAA is wrong!!! No wonder BM gets away with all recruiting tuff.

I wonder if the FHSAA boy’s volleyball administrator is aware of everything that is going on, he should read the forum to stay on top of his sport.

This might sound like a very stupid question, but I am a little confused. In football St. Thomas tries to get the best players they can. They get player from public & private schools. This is also true for girls soccer and girls volleyball. In all circumstances, if a player transfers to St. Thomas from a private, or public school, they must sit out 1 year? If so, is boys volleyball being overlooked?

FYI Tanya Jarvis is on the RULES advisory committee not the APPEAL committee. And as for Christian BM followed the FHSAA rules. BM filed an EL-10 form and the state ruled him ineligible. BM then filed for an appeal and won the appeal. How about we all just play the season and see who wins.

Hey Guys,
Just back from Washington DC. good times...but long trip...okay we are still discussing BMCHS transfers and BMCHS coaches...
Coach Tanya is the girls coach for BMCHS and is on some sort of committee...I can assure you that if she had to make some ruling that could be view as a conflict of interest the FHSAA would recuse her from the process.... sorry guys that is a no brainer...too obvious that her vote would result in a big pissing match no matter how she voted... nonetheless she is a nice person or she is nice to me...
It seems that the FHSAA has ruled on these matters and found all the transfers are legal and acceptable to the FHSAA which gets to make the final decision. Some folks don't like it for their own reasons and have said so. The season is about two weeks away, any chance we can talk about who will be hitting and digging balls on the courts? and how they do it?

i wish our school had a 76 mile radius of kids to choose from instead of 1-2 maybe 3 miles at best....makes it easy to win states like that instead of actually "COACHING" and getting the satisfaction of "HARD WORK". so when you do win states, it MEANS something...

we are going to talk about this, we are going to be talking about it until the end of the season. When BM wins states, everyone is going to know is not going to be a real championship, it will mean nothing in everyone’s eyes who is involve in high school boys volleyball; players and coaches. They looked for a way to find an edge regardless if it was not following the rules and not being in the same playing field as other schools.

I have the perfect solution for everyone, since FHSAA does not care about where you play club and end up playing high school, how about everyone who lives in Seminole county transfer s to Lyman, everyone in Orange county transfers to Winter Park, and everyone who has the money to pay for private school transfers to BM. You will be in the best programs in the county, getting great coaching and every season your team will be a contender for state title. Down south, you need to come with your own plan. All broward should go to Archbishop McCarthey. based on last year, they will take (or pay for) any good transfer. ;D

Second, for those saying if BM wins states you won't consider it a "fair championship", you don't know what true competition is. Dont be jealous that you can't go out and find some players to make your program better than what it already is. Instead, you sit around complaining rather than being quiet and doing something about it yourself. Look, it's proven that great teams don't always win, my team and I lost in state finals last year. Good luck to BM and to all the other teams out there, and let's finally start talking about some productive stuff, instead of a team that has a new outside that we haven't even seen play yet lol
