next year southwest and palmetto will dominate dade county and do very well against the rest of the state competition. both teams are loosing strong players but have a good core of key guys returning. in my opinion, both teams should be stronger next year than they were this year. pace should be decent next year but not at the level with the top teams just yet. n i dont think there will be a whole lot more teams to fear from dade.

When I was talking to a parent of a palmetto kid during a tournament last year, he said that there was a lot of starters that were seniors and next year (this upcoming year) could be a problem. Dis Palmetto have a JV team?

Looking at next year and those teams that have a lot returning players that are very good and were starters this year. I believe the level of play will be much better next year. These teams have almost all their players returning and there is great potential: River Cardinal Gib (i believe) Douglas BM What other teams look good next year? I agree. River has a lot of returning players and Douglas only lost 1 player. Both teams have a majority of their players playing on the Fla Sons and they will be very good next year. I believe CG has a lot of good returning players also. I do not know much about BM. It is my understanding that Southwest, Palmetto, STA and Olympia is losing key players. Am I right? Douglas only lost 1 player? I know C. Brown and Big Red are still there. There was only 1 senior last year? I agree, and I think River and Douglas could be very good next year. I heard the Regional game between these 2 was very close. I also hear a lot about BM for next year from CF.

palmetto had a jv and they were SICK...they could beat a lot of varsity teams out there...and no im not exagerating. the front line was stacked with guys 6'1-6'4with there shortest guy being 5'10 one of their middles with like a 35 inch vert. The setter is ridulous...who runs 31s, back ones and stacks on jv honestly...the varsitys returning 3 strong players and 3 other decent ones...in terms of talent, palmetto will be better next year...they will lack experience but thatll come during the season...
southwest loses a couple key starters but one learns to fear the name southwest no matter how many starters are coming back...for one reason...mauricio diaz. that guy is the sickest coach out there. look at this year...pretty much everyone except for the outside and right side were jv last year and they won states...
outside of that???
lets just say its gonna be a loooooooooong season for miami dade county next year.
prolly pace, HML, columbus, Varela, round out the next 4 best teams...which is really sad...HML has angel dache coming back hes sick as hell and they only had one senior that was any good...

hey guy, you dont know what your talking about, palmetto jv couldnt beat a respectable varsity for anything. maybe homestead and ridge... wow... those shouldnt even have teams... palmetto will be good next year if phil can figure out how to hit over the block, if mac keeps improving like he is and the 2 brothers keep doing their thing...
a sick jv is like says were the best of everyone who sucks... soo... good job i guess?!?

I am not seeing BM as that strong of a team next year. They are always a solid team and I am sure that will repeat that trend, but I can't see them making noise at states. Could be wrong but ... we will have to see.
I agree with tcwolf that Apopka will still have some kick to them, OT will do just fine behind their stars but my pick in Orange County is Timber Creek if every body can keep egos in check and keep a strong work ethic. The talent and tradition is there & they could do very well. Who will be the coach next year?
As for a transfer coming into Timber Creek. Wolf you really need to learn to keep certain things to yourself! It could be construed by others, including FHSAA, as fishy for a player to be announcing a transfer 9 months before the beginning of the season. You better hope that this transfer student comes in on day one of school year.

umm their is talk that rubenstien will be the head coach for TC again. and bm will be strong with quaid, ben nichols, mikee d, the 2 sophemore middles on 16-1s, cantu, cristian, danny g, ray and kyle. and umm idk why its a big deal. its a legal transfer cuz the kid is moving. and it doesnt matter 9 months before when he moves he moves.

hey steve, phil can hit over the block, he just needs to learn how to hit hard over the block! Mac will be nasty next year! we took a team full of 5 soph and me playing middle to dade open gym and we only lost one game (that was to pedro's team with jose spiderman max and a few other solid players) and mac was still dominating!
n our jv probably could have made districts over coral reef or varela and in weaker districts they would have been up there man! agreed against teams that are good we wouldnt have beat them, but bro they could play ball! there were alot of teams i saw in tourneys that we could have beat!
i know jvs used to be a joke man, but they are really getting better... just cause killians jv was horrible doesnt mean thats all that palmetto had to play. columbus and southwest had strong jvs as well! coral reef and sunset could play some good jv ball too. it is more of a developmental team for younger players now rather than throw some scrubs on the jv team. jv is about teaching the game and getting experience for varsity now, not just hoping a couple kids might make varsity one day. ya get me?

BM will have the same solid middles, good setter and libero, with a new rightside and 2 new outsides (one a freshy and one a xfer). The freshman will be a beast of an outside when he is a junior and senior, he sets for the 16-1s i think now but will dominate as an hs oh.

cantu is a sick outside, he is the transfer from bm. and idk i thought 1 of those 16 1s middles would play outside but idk. they have options.

douglas loses their setter. thats the 1 senior Even though Douglas lost their setter, who was a great person on and off the court, I feel they have the potential to be one of the higher level teams in broward. They have Charlie Brown and Big red (starts for Sons 17's), plus Jay who is tearing apart the Sons 16's this year. They have Justin who is a big boy and Aaron who started last year as a freshman and is having a great summer with the Sons 15. The only issue is "who will be the setter?" I do not know. This will be the key to their success. I am a firm believer that your outsides and middle's greatness will directly depend on the sets he receives.

looking back on what i said about killians jv was pretty harsh. granted they werent as good as they usually have been, but they definately showed improvement over the course of the season. i think their biggest strength is that they are fighters and put up a few close matches against some of the best jvs around.
alvaro, i agree with you that they will be alright and hold their own the next few years but i think that is mostly due to good coaching and a good core of guys coming back and helping that program out. they do seem like a good group of guys and i am not putting them down by saying that, but between them being hard workers and recieving good coaching, i think that would make a good combination
